In the late 90s the company focused its attention, especially in the wine sector, trying to make the most of the exceptional quality of Nero d’Avola.
Its vineyards are partly trained to tree, over 50 years of age (producing 35-50 tons per hectare), and partly on the back of 15-20 years of age, with a production of 70 quintals per hectare.
The Company Curto is located mostly in the territory of Ispica (south-east Sicily) in a very fertile area straddling the provinces of Ragusa and Syracuse, rich in historical and cultural centers recently declared UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The climatic conditions are those Mediterranean coastal central, therefore characterized by medium to high temperatures and low rainfall (concentrated in the autumn and winter).
The morphology of these areas is dominated by all the Iblei Mountains, which form the plateaus followed by a series of platforms gradually lower down towards the sea.
The soil has a mainly calcareous (limestone of the Val di Noto and tufa), rich in marl and clay.
Its vineyards all fall in the most suitable for growing Eloro DOC, homeland of Nero d’Avola, the most sunny and bright in Italy, which benefits from the sea breeze of the Mediterranean Sea and the Ionian Sea.
The grapes thus obtained, of excellent quality, give high-class wines and elegance.
